Americas (NAWIRA & CONSUR) - Argentina pre-qualified

2008

Caribbean Championship between Barbados, Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago (winner Trinidad and Tobago)

CONSUR (South American) Division B Championship between Colombia, Venezuela, Paraguay, Brazil, Peru (winner Brazil)

October 2008 - Trinidad & Tobago v Brazil - Home and Away (winner Brazil)

2009

The winner of the cross continental play-off (Brazil) to play in the three-team CONSUR A Division Championship with Uruguay and Chile

In July 2009 USA play Canada home and away, the winner from the two matches qualifies directly for RWC 2011 as Americas 1

The loser of Canada-USA goes on to play the winner of Brazil, Chile, Uruguay over a home and away tie. The winner qualifies for RWC 2011 as Americas 2. The loser plays in the Final Place Play-off.

Europe (FIRA-AER) England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Wales pre-qualified

2009

Round 1 - Winner Division 3B v Winner Division 3C (Home or Away)

Round 2 - Winner Round 1 v Winner Division 3A

Round 3 - Winner Round 2 v Winner Division 2B

2010

Round 4 - Winner Round 3 v Winner Division 2A

Round 5 - European Nations Cup Division 1 - Top 2 qualify directly for RWC 2011 as Europe 1 and Europe 2

Round 6 - Winner Round 4 v 3rd in ENC Division 1 - Winner plays in the Final Place Play-off

Oceania (FORU) Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Tonga pre-qualified

2009

Oceania Cup - Two one-off matches, Vanuatu v Papua New Guinea (East) and Niue v Cook Islands (West) in June to produce a final between the East winners and the West winners

Oceania Cup winners play Samoa home and away in July, the winners qualify directly for RWC 2011 as Oceania 1

Africa (CAR) South Africa pre-qualified

2008

Cameroon v Nigeria (winners Cameroon)
Swaziland v Botswana (winners Botswana)

Cameroon and Botswana enter the Africa Cup, to be played June-August 2008 in the following pools:

Pool 1: Namibia, Zimbabwe, Senegal
Pool 2: Morocco, Ivory Coast, Zambia
Pool 3: Tunisia, Kenya, Cameroon
Pool 4: Uganda, Madagascar, Botswana

2009

Winners of the four pools (Namibia, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Uganda) progress to semi finals to be played home and away on 13 and 27 June 2009. The semi finals will be Ivory Coast v Namibia and Uganda v Tunisia.

Winners of semi-finals play the Africa Cup final, to be played home and away in November 2009, with the winner qualifying directly for RWC 2011 as Africa 1

The loser plays in Final Place Play-off

Asia Division 2 - India, Malaysia, Pakistan and Thailand - Winner (Thailand) promoted to Division 1 for 2009

Asia Division 1 - Chinese Taipei, Singapore and Sri Lanka - Winner (Singapore) promoted to 2009 Asian 5 Nations

Asia Division 1 - Winner promoted to 2010 Asian 5 Nations
Asian 5 Nations - Last place relegated to Asia Division 1 in 2010

Asian 5 Nations winner qualifies directly to RWC 2011 as Asia 1
Asian 5 Nations runner-up plays in Final Place Play-off
